: Who'd A Thought It?
When I started my collection of grape varieties over 30 years ago I was looking only for grapes that had what I thought would be good potential for breeding. I collected a number of grapes that were virtual unknowns at the time only because they had traits that could have made them useful in the breeding program I was trying to set up. I only planted one or two vines as that was all I needed for my planned work.
Now, however, some of those unknowns have become fashionable, and in some cases, very suddenly. But now it's hard to add that many of something to my collection as room and ability to care for everything is running short.
Which is what makes it frustrating when someone orders a large quantity of an oddball without checking to see if I even have it.
There may be a partial solution on the horizon, but I'm not revealing that until it's ready.
For now, I hope this note will reach at least a few people to ask them PLEASE check availability if you want to order more than 50 or 100 of something. If you order way more than I can provide, without asking first, I have to charge a fee for refunding the difference as it takes me time and money to deal with refunds.
Have mercy on an overworked grape grower.
